9 projectors create a world!

The 508 theater really transforms when all projectors are working together...

Tuesday we did on the spot interviews... Steve and I were interested in hearing what people thought they understood about Somatophobia...

This is a screen shot of an interview... the interview files are too large to post yet... but soon.
We also started working with video in the 508 space... we are using 9 projectors and 4 live cameras.  We are also using a point capture system to animate an avatar in real time.

Some of the footage that I'm using to modify in our video environment.

Today was our first look at how Bob's Palace (section of Somatophobia) is going to look like... bare stage, costumes lit by Iain Court, first hearing of Christine Barclay's music in conjunction with the live speaking... so many elements coming together in 2 hours... such a feat of coordination!

Costumes for Summerdances 2012

Working on a late June show means that we can have a section of Somatophobia be represented during UWM Summerdances 2012.  This was our second rehearsal in the theater and I'm excited to see what the space looks like with this piece.  The section we are bringing to the stage is a former piece of mine called Bob's Palace.  The piece was created in 2003 with a state of the art infrared optical motion capture system.  For Summerdances 2012 we are only doing the dance... no technology.  Dominic Amato is working at re-creating the animation for Somatophobia.  More on this later.

Yesterday we were working with costumes during our second staging rehearsal... I'm not too interested in spending a lot of money or time on the costumes... during Somatophobia at KSE the video is the main element but the costumes should reflect some kind of community... some general tone of uniformity.  From the uniform I can see where we would be able to see the specific... and that's the goal really.  To see the specific details of the characters and not the costumes.

Here composer Christine Barclay is working with the dancers...

The sheet laying on the stage is pictured below... dancers like to be quiet as a whole but right now they are surprising themselves... the hardest part is the fear most of us have about singing which works very well with our theme.

The Dark Knight with some paint!!!

We started working with the structure Edward Winslow built for us.  The structure is meant to represent the parts of ourselves that we construct into a protective shell.  Most of what we did was playing around to see how solid the structure was, and how many people we could fit inside it.  We also played with the various components to see what could be done with them...
